You set a sales goal – wonderful!
then self-doubt pops up – not so wonderful.
This is a natural part of the goal setting (and achieving) process. Your subconscious mind (the part of your mind which is really running your life) wants to keep you “safe” while doing exactly what you’re doing – and if what you were doing right now was what you needed to do to achieve your goals you’d be there already.
There are five levels of commitment to move through to accomplish your desired outcome:
- “I wish I could”
- “I want to”
- “I plan to”
- “I will”
- “I am”
You can fill in the blank after each one of these steps for whatever it is you’d like on both the personal side : ”lose weight”, “start exercising”, “get up earlier”, “quit eating xxx” and on the business side: “make more money”, “increase my sales”, “be more organized”, “be more successful at xxx”.
Either way you have to ‘wirk’ through each point in the process – and in it, become the “you” who is someone who “insert your goal here”. Sounds simple enough, right?
Here is what trips a lot of people up on their way to their goal – they think they can “out-think” where they are when what is required is examining what they think that is keeping them where they are! There are beliefs you have which are the drivers — and stoppers — of everything you want to be, have and do in life. Most of them are below your conscious level of awareness which makes it tricky to discover them on your own. These beliefs show up as procrastination and avoidance of business building activities; uncertainty and lack of confidence in yourself; worry and “not enough” in your finances. Until you change the beliefs that are producing your current results you are going to continue to repeat the habits and patterns of thought which reinforce them. Positive affirmations over self-limiting beliefs is much like putting a happy face sticker on an empty fuel gauge – neither of them is going to get you very far.
